All I really need: me and 'ol rusty. |
I like to pretend that I'm a runner but really, I'm more like an "overripe jogger". I'm ready to run. My race portfolio is quite thin to be honest thicker than it was. I have been stop-and-go with my training and it does frustrate me, still.
So WHY start again? Why NOW? The answer is simple.
I'm overweight...still.
It really doesn't get any simpler than that. Therefore, this is me doing something about it, yet again. So why did I chose running? This may sound a little odd for some but I have always dreamed of becoming a runner. It's because after last year's training and races, I BECAME A RUNNER. You know, the type of runner who can "go the distance", be anywhere and have a great run then feel great about it afterward. Perhaps it is also due to my own vanities that I aspire to be AM a "runner" RUNNER. Acquiring a new pair of shoes every 300 something miles or so. Accessorizing yourself with gadgets that help "improve your running" and so on. Yet, setting all this aside, this is still the simplest form of exercise when it comes down to it. No fancy equipment or huge bodies of water necessary. It's just YOU and a good pair of shoes...perhaps a bottle of water...and okay, comfortable socks.
I AM A RUNNER. (or at least I'm determined to be!)
My running program is simple: I will start out by running 3 times a week, for the first month then 6 times a week thereafter with one day's rest. I will also be incorporating weight lifting and other cardio workouts. [See TRAINING Plan]
