"Come run with me!"
This what I've learned to say when I start to struggle with something while running. Be it pain or just that mental resistant attitude. Thanks to book, "The Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer" I have been using this as a
Mantra as well as:
"But it doesn't matter, does it!"
I ate pretty crappy food yesterday which made this run a bit of a challenge. 'But it doesn't matter does it? SO KEEP RUNNING!' This was also what I kept reminding myself as I went on the numerous excuses as to why I couldn't and wouldn't run for 30-minutes today. But to my amazement, I completed 2 miles under 30-minutes. When I hit that 2.0 mark I was so happy I stopped running. I thought, this is awesome! But then I shortly realized that today's goal wasn't 2 miles, it was 30 minutes so I still had time. Away again I went! It was worth it!
I was so happy. But I also realized that I need to do something about my "fuel". So I'm working on starting...NOW. Since tomorrow will be a 7-mile run. I'm quite excited because I have someone to run with and it will be outdoors. Tonight I must prepare by:
- eating well
- eating light
- drink plenty of fluids and
- sleep early
Good luck to us!
Thank you DJ Steve Boy PodRunnner for great music, "Cool Running".
